Generator installation in Jesup, GA

We install standby generators for houses and shops across Jesup, Wayne County and southeast Georgia. The unit, the automatic transfer switch, the pad, the gas and the feeders, installed as one package.

What a standby generator install includes

A generator is only as good as the transfer switch and the service behind it.

PartWhat it does
GeneratorCarries what you need running until the utility is back, sized after a walk-through.
Automatic transfer switchStarts the changeover by itself when the power drops and keeps the generator from ever pushing power back onto the utility lines.
Pad, feeders and transfer gearWe set the pad, run the feeders and wire the transfer equipment.
FuelNatural gas if the property is on a gas line; off it, propane is the usual fuel. We run the gas.

What size generator do I need?

The one that runs what has to stay on. Before we quote, we walk the house or the shop and list it: usually the well pump, the freezer and the heat, and in a shop the compressor. That list sizes the unit, not a sticker on a box.

Sometimes the service behind it needs work too. We do the service work to feed it.

Do I need a permit to install a generator?

Yes. Expect a permit for the electrical work, and another for the gas line if there is one, from the city or the county depending on the address.

In Wayne County, inside Jesup city limits, permits come from the City of Jesup Building Inspections Department, 162 E Cherry Street, 912-427-1313. In unincorporated Wayne County they come from Wayne County Building Inspections, 341 E Walnut Street, Jesup. Wayne County issues permits for the City of Odum after the city approves them. Since January 1, 2026, unincorporated Wayne County has used the 2023 National Electrical Code.

Permit offices for Brunswick, Hinesville, Richmond Hill, Savannah and Statesboro are on each town's page.

Why people here plan for outages

Hurricane Irma in September 2017 put US 17 through Brunswick under water and left widespread outages across Glynn County. When Hurricane Matthew came through in October 2016, nearly all of Liberty County lost power, an estimated 19,000 homes, the Coastal Courier reported. A standby unit on an automatic transfer switch starts by itself and carries the house until the utility is back.
